Susan Plumlee

Susan began her riding career at the age of 6 with lessons at Rocky River Equestrian Center outside of Cleveland, Ohio. At age 10 she became a working student for Laddy Andahazy, who developed the equestrian program at the prestigious Lake Erie College (Mr. Andahazy is also credited for introducing the concept of Grand Prix jumping to America). By age 12 she was riding and showing low-level jumpers for Mr. Andahazy.

After her family moved to Philidelphia, Susan continued riding and showing at Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and competed at Devon & Washington International in the junior jumpers. Returning to Ohio for college, she expanded her knowledge by working with Supreme Show Barn, an Appaloosa Breeding and Show Farm outside of Dayton.

In 1989, Susan took a private trainer position with a family in McLean, Virginia, where she took their 10 year old daughter and her pony to Culpepper to compete in the large pony divisions. In 1990 she accepted a postion at Wild Horse Valley Ranch, a three-day eventing barn in Napa, California, as their stadium jumping trainer. While at WHVR, the 1984 training site for the US Olympic 3 Day Eventing Team, she rode with some of the top names in the eventing world including Jimmy Wofford and Sandy Howard and competed at the Intermediate level twice.

She returned to Ohio to become a private trainer for the Moore Family, where she coached their daughter to a top ten finish at the Kentucky Nationals in the Children's Jumper Division two years in a row.

Susan moved to Florida in 1996 and three years later took over at Churchill Farm where she continues to teach and train today.
