Courtney Washmuth
Courtney was born and raised on the North Shore of Chicago, Illinois. During a family vacation in Montana, she saddled up on a horse for the first time at the age of 6 months, and hasn't gotten off since.
She started riding competitively at 10 years of age in Morton Grove, Illinois, trained by Danny Jayne and Justine Moody. For the first two years of her riding career, Courtney showed at the Northern Illinois Hunter & Jumper Circuit where she attained Champion in two divisions, and Reserve Champion in one division at the year-end awards.
To evolve her riding career even further, Courtney started training with Lynn Jayne, President of the USHJA Foundation Board of Directors at Our Day Farm. There, she excelled in the 'A' Circuit, riding competitively in Zone 5 in the Small Juniors, Children's Jumpers and then moving up to Junior Jumpers. She also competed in the 'A' Winter Circuit Series in Wellington, Florida. Courtney has had many successful years riding three very special horses: Lotta Heart, Thurston and Maddhatter.
To continue her love of the sport, Courtney started training kids and adults of all levels. Using knowledge and experience from participating in clinics run by Christ Kappler, George Morris, Debbie Stephens and Ann Thal, Courtney now trains students at Churchill Farm. She loves watching her students learn, grow and compete in the local circuit. |
